New York Internet Users Report Problems with Protecting Personal Data
Almost one in five New York state Internet users received a notification from their bank or credit card issuer in the last year saying personal or financial information had been compromised, according to a statewide survey by Consumer Reports WebWatch. The survey was commissioned by WebWatch in conjunction with its "Look Before You Click” campaign, which has already released a six-part investigative feature on online auction fraud and 10 fact sheets full of tips to stay safe online. StopBadware.org and Consumer Reports WebWatch have unveiled BadwareBusters.org, a new online community for people looking for help removing viruses, spyware and other badware from their computers.
