Membership of NAFAE is open to institutions and individuals. Member institutions are those who offer courses with a substantial Fine Art component at undergraduate or postgraduate level, or those who prepare students for Fine Art study at degree level.

Individual members are people who are interested in the development and promotion of Fine Art education.

To further it's objectives of advocacy and development, a Steering Committee of The National Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, with co-opted representatives from other groups, direct the policy and general management of NAFAE.

The Annual General Meeting is accompanied every year by discussion or workshop sessions that address issues or present findings on topics of interest or concern to members and other parties.

The refereed Journal of Visual Art Practice is currently published by the Association, as a forum for wider dissemination of information and academic discussion. NAFAE developed the proposal for the Artists Access to Art Colleges Scheme (AA2A) and in 1999 secured A4E funding from the Arts Council of England to run the scheme for three years.   More detail...
