For better or worse, the acting industry and show business as a whole, produce lots of ceremonial award events. So do try to get involved here by selecting award categories pertinent to you, then contacting the respective organization to learn their criteria and cycle for qualifying for an award.

These award events should not be confused with grant or fellowship awards which primarily award a monetary prize, but can host an ceremony and reception as well. The real value behind these ceremonial awards honoring skill and craft is the potential networking value they may offer by attending the receptions that accompany award presentations.

Usually winning an award does mean an opportunity to get media coverage, which is certainly important for marketing, giving momentum to a career, and staying within the public’s eye.
