Like us humans, our pet population suffers from illnesses and obesity. These conditions are due in part to the foods we feed them.
These foods are usually highly processed, can be inappropriate for their constitutions and most contain an abundance of chemical additives – and we are feeding our pets these manufactured foods every day of their lives. And generally, they only provide your pet with the minimum standard nutrition. As an example, dogs are carnivores that require animal protein. The dog food most people feed them instead contains protein derived from cereal grains (or low grade meats), which not only do not provide the protein they really need, but can lead to obesity.
