California Association of Neurologically Handicapped Children (CANHC) was founded in 1960 by a group of concerned parents and professionals. In 1974, CANHC became affiliated with the national organization, ACLD (Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities), and eventually became CANHC-ACLD, then ACLD of California. In 1989 the names of the national and state organizations were changed to LDA (Learning Disabilities Association) to be more easily found by parents, adults with learning disabilities, and professionals in need of their services.   More detail...
