We see our role as providing a coherent and comprehensive source of information for art and design teachers and lecturers. We aim to continually define and reassess policies in all areas of art, craft and design education, disseminating new ideas, research and good practice, and providing a forum for discussion.
We achieve this through activities such as publishing (on-line, newsletter, journal and books), specialist book-selling, conference organisation, and by providing teaching resources and extensive in-service training opportunities. We maintain contacts with other societies and groups which have an interest in the subject and, whenever possible, we assist in co-ordinating and presenting a united view. Also, we safeguard the interests and protect the employment of those members in eligible membership categories by offering support and access to legal advice and assistance in professional matters whenever possible or desirable.
