Formerly the Tavistock Marital Studies Institute (TMSI), the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships, founded in 1948, is a practice-based organisation committed to studying the nature of the couple relationship.

We make a substantial contribution to developing and supporting services which offer help to couples and families by teaching, researching and writing about our work. We aim to provide services that improve the quality of adult couple relationships, prevent family breakdown and enhance the lives of children.

Our approach is informed by psychoanalytic thinking, promoting an understanding of interactive processes in couple, service delivery, and organisational relationships. In addition we offer consultation and professional development to a wide range of practitioners from related fields.
