A recognized Colombian artist – in the Latin-American Art Museum of Florida. At that time Pilar Tobón was a Member of the Board of Directors and the only representative member dedicated to Textile Art as an artist and also as cultural agent.
Always aware of the fact that Textile Art was not sufficiently known in Southern Florida –she presented to the Museum’s Board her proposal to open the Museum to Textile Artists of the World, by organizing the I International Biennial of the Women in Textile Art Organization “ Pre-Columbian Renaissance - 2000” .- The Biennial opened to the public together with the New Millennium during the Women’s International Month with great success. It showed works of 53 well-known artists representing 19 countries - spanning the five continents, including among them Silke - the celebrated Argentinian Artist.
