Perhaps that commitment was best displayed when The Dallas Morning News became the first major news organization to use its Web site essentially to scoop itself, publishing an exclusive story on convicted Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh to the Internet before the printed version could hit the streets on March 1, 1997.
