My name is Michael J. Hammel. I’m an embedded Linux developer by day who also happens to be an author, a graphic artist, web designer and independent software developer at night. I currently live with my wife Brinda, daughter Ryann, and Reba and Bailey, the two most wonderful golden retrievers in the world, in Colorado Springs, CO.
I write for Linux Format Magazine and Linux Weekly News regularly and I am finishing up my latest book on the GIMP - The Artists Guide to GIMP Effects, due out soon from No Starch Press. I’ve spoken at the ALS, LinuxWorld and SXSW conferences and chaired multiple conferences on Linux in Colorado. I also run XEUS (Ximba End User Software), which is my own development site for XNotesPlus, The Graphics Muse Tools, Ximba Radio and other open source software.
