The year 2008 will mark the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat. In 1968 Swami Vishnudevananda, with the help of Rev. Prince Hepburn and Mr. Myers, established the ashram on Paradise Island. In 1969, while meditating at the Temple in the Yoga Retreat, Swami Vishnudevananda had a vision of the world on fire. This vision inspired him to create the True World Order and the Teachers’Training Course in a mission to spread the message of peace and to create leaders for society.

Today, the Yoga Retreat remains devoted to Swami Vishnudevananda’s peace mission. It teaches Yoga in its original form and also teaches the healing arts, new sciences and consciousness with the intention to draw out of all our guests and students their natural Divinity and the will to serve the higher good of humanity.   More detail...
